Terms of Use

These terms govern use of Rockland County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading the material, or submitting a query means that you accept them. Do not continue to use the site if you disagree with any condition.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with Rockland County, New York State, or any other government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other screening governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource points to official criminal-record channels in Rockland County and New York. It is not a private-investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independently operated and unaffiliated with government. We do not store official records, conduct official checks, retrieve a file, or submit documents for a visitor.

The material identifies Rockland County custodians such as the Sheriff, police agencies, and court clerks, along with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), Office of Criminal Justice Records and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, governs requests to executive agencies, while Executive Law § 837 controls DCJS criminal-history functions. Neither law makes this private site an official request portal.

2. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Use automated scraping tools or bots against the pages
  • Harass, stalk, intimidate, or threaten a person with information found here
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Use the material for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Disrupt service or interfere with another person's access
  • Violate any applicable federal, New York, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use this resource or a linked tool to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate against anyone. That prohibition is especially important for New York State Sex Offender Registry data. Correction Law § 168-l limits public disclosure, and the official registry warns that harassment or criminal misuse is forbidden. Registry information supports community safety, not vigilantism or discriminatory decisions.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create a credit report, background check, or other consumer report. Our advertising partners and this resource are not offered for applicant screening, rental review, insurance pricing, or credit decisions. You agree not to use site or linked-tool information to:

  • Assess creditworthiness or set an insurance rate
  • Screen a housing or rental applicant
  • Make an employment decision
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

A legally permitted screening purpose requires the proper official or FCRA-compliant channel, not this website or its general search tools.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is not legal advice. General information about Rockland County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or record-sealing law applies to a particular case. Seek advice from a licensed New York attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A partner's search result will be complete or correct
  • The site will operate without interruption
  • Every published fact remains accurate, complete, and current
  • The pages contain no errors, defects, or security weakness

Criminal records change as charges, dispositions, and sealing actions are reported. Gaps and delays can occur. No statement here is an official certification by a court, the Sheriff, DCJS, or another agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to government offices, court portals, legal resources, or outside search providers. We do not control a destination's content, availability, fees, or data practices. Review its own terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Rockland County Criminal History or its content partners. Written permission is required to copy, distribute, adapt, or create a derivative work from that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the site, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, and proceedings caused by your use of the site or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revision takes effect when the new version is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended or ended at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected provision will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
